Welcome to Turtlesarehere.com
(Latest Update: 27 November 2013)
My humble web site started with the development of an underwater camera housing for the Pentax 750Z, but has subsequently grown to include a Pentax A20 underwater camera housing, Dive Photos, a page on making Printed Circuit Boards, a Data Logger, my CD Welder, an optically aligned PCB drill and a Proportional Temperature Controller.
The latest addition to this site is the pages on a Sunbeam electric blanket controller that was designed to fail. I have also been making some progress on my reflow oven.
I have had quite a few contacts for a complete schematic of my CD Welder. While the welder is reliable and robust I am working on some improvements and extensions. The basic design is fully described on the CD welder pages (with the exception of the main power supply and the microcontroller board).
In recent times I have continued my work on the Amigo (previously named the Buddy Locator), a navigation aid for recreational SCUBA diving. See the image on the right.
Some of this work was originally posted here but, as the project has developed from an excuse to go SCUBA diving into a commercial reality, the original material has been revised and reposted at Aquacoustics.biz.
The Amigo is in the final stages of commercialization. This has been an expensive and somewhat frustrating exercise beset by unavoidable delays and opportunistic diversions (such as the development of the Amigo Crew). It is still anticipated that Amigo will be available for retail sale towards the end of 2013.
Over the next few months I have a number of significant fire engineering commitments (see FireNZE) so many of my projects are on the back-burner for a while.
